Cilacap, 24–25 September 2025 – The Indonesian Cement Association (ASI) and the Ministry of Industry conducted a visit to the SBI Cilacap Plant. The event was attended by a team from the Ministry of Industry, ASI officials, and management representatives from almost all ASI member companies.
The Cilacap RDF facility is significant as it is the first large-scale RDF facility in Indonesia, with SBI Cilacap as the main off-taker. The construction of this facility is the result of a funding collaboration between the Government of Denmark, the Ministry of Public Works and Housing, the Provincial Government of Central Java, and the Cilacap Regency Government. SBI (formerly Holcim Indonesia) played a major role as the initiator, being directly involved since the concept and design stages. Currently, the RDF Plant is owned by the Cilacap Regency Government and is operated jointly with SBI as both the operator and off-taker.
This visit provided valuable insights for ASI members, especially amid the acceleration of RDF development by the Indonesian Government through the Ministry of Environment and the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing as a solution for urban waste management. The cement industry affirmed its commitment to continue supporting this initiative, both as a reliable off-taker and, where possible, as an operator and investor.
