ASI and CNBM Strengthen Cooperation Towards a Low-Carbon Cement Industry

Jakarta, 29 August 2025 – The Indonesian Cement Association (ASI) and the top leadership of the national cement industry welcomed a delegation from the China Cement Association, led by the President and Chairman of China National Building Material Group (CNBM), Mr Zhou Yuxian.

CNBM is the world’s largest building materials group, engaged in cement, new materials, engineering services, and international trade. CNBM’s leadership and innovation have played an important role in promoting the sustainable development of the global building materials industry.

The morning meeting provided a valuable forum for both parties to share their views on industry developments, market trends, technological advances, and opportunities for strategic cooperation between Indonesia and China.

In the afternoon session, the delegation proceeded to the CNBM Promotion Conference, where ASI signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Sinoma International, a member of the CNBM Group. This MoU is open-ended and non-binding, covering potential collaboration in the following areas:

  • Energy efficiency improvement
  • Utilisation of alternative raw materials and fuels
  • Clinker substitution and low-carbon cement development
  • Carbon Capture, Utilisation and Storage (CCUS) technology
  • New energy technology
  • Automation, digitalisation and artificial intelligence solutions
  • Energy management collaboration

On this occasion, CNBM Group also signed additional MoUs with a number of other industries, confirming the broad scope of cooperation established to accelerate innovation and sustainability. This step is an important milestone in strengthening relations between the Indonesian and Chinese cement industries, while supporting a shared commitment to innovation, decarbonisation, and sustainable growth.
