Jakarta, IDN Times – The urgency of concrete actions by various parties in addressing the impact of climate change is one of the priority agendas of the Indonesian Cement Association (ASI), which oversees the cement industry in Indonesia, to increase decarbonisation within the scope of one of the largest capacities in Asia. This commitment is behind ASI’s initiative to hold the International Cement Technology (Cemtech) Conference 2024 Asia with the theme ‘Advancing Decarbonization Technologies in Asia’ at the Shangri-La Hotel, Jakarta, for two days on 3-5 June 2024.

Chairman of the Indonesian Cement Association, Lilik Unggul Raharjo said that the green industry transition must be a priority for all business players in the cement industry. ‘This conference facilitates business leaders, cement associations in Asia and government agencies to inspire each other and create opportunities for collaboration in increasing emissions reduction contributions,’ said Lilik.Furthermore, he also said that until 2022, the Indonesian cement industry had achieved a 12.9 per cent reduction in emissions compared to the 2010 baseline. ’ASI, in collaboration with the Ministry of Industry, has designed a decarbonisation roadmap to achieve Net Zero Emission by 2050. This means that we still have great room to innovate on decarbonisation,’ said Lilik.
