KONTAN.CO.ID – JAKARTA. The Ministry of Industry (Kemenperin) considers the application of green industry principles carried out by PT Semen Indonesia Tbk (SMGR) or SIG to be a national example.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This was conveyed during a working visit to the SIG factory in Narogong, Bogor, West Java, which aimed to directly review the implementation of green industry standards at the company.
Deputy Minister of Industry Faisol Riza expressed his appreciation to SIG for its commitment to running a business that integrates economic, environmental and social aspects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He said SIG could be a good practice not only in the cement sector, but also for the national industry in general.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“SIG Group has shown how the industry can comply with green industry standards. We hope this practice is also adopted by other industrial sectors,” Faisol said in his statement as quoted on Saturday (28\/6).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Faisol explained that based on Law Number 3 on Industry, green industry rests on three main pillars: resource efficiency, environmental protection, and social benefits.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to him, this principle is in line with the green economy that prioritizes energy efficiency, low carbon, and social inclusiveness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Chairman of the Indonesian Cement Association, Lilik Unggul Raharjo, also stated the importance of accelerating the green industry in the cement sector.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He highlighted that this step is not only important for domestic decarbonization, but also to adjust to carbon emission regulations from export destination countries and domestic carbon economic value policies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

SIG President Director, Indrieffouny Indra, expressed his gratitude for the government’s support in the company’s transformation process towards the implementation of green industry principles and industrial digitalization (Industry 4.0).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He explained that SIG is committed to developing a sustainable business and adapting to future needs through various initiatives such as energy efficiency, decarbonization, circular economy, water and nature conservation, and community involvement in the supply chain.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

SIG is also developing an environmentally friendly waste management business line through its subsidiary, Nathabumi, which has the largest waste treatment facility in Southeast Asia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

SIG is known to be a pioneer in the use of refuse-derived fuel (RDF) technology in Indonesia, and encourages the participation of local communities in the provision of biomass and the utilization of RDF as an energy alternative.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
